This June I hopped on a big bus with 70 other teenage students to travel through the American West visiting 22 cities.
I was nervous because I didn’t know anyone, but I was super excited like I just won a front row concert ticket to see the KPOP Group Twice.
I learned that a bus can smell bad in just a few days, that being weird is ok, and us teenagers can survive eating the worst foods ever. Hotdogs, Runny Eggs, Bologna Sandwiches and six Ritz Crackers with Cheese for Lunch…Oh Yeah, Cold Chicken Tacos.
Can you say Pepto Bismol? Yuck!
I was able to see a million stars at night camping out in the majestic Grand Canyon, river rafting white waters through the canyons of Wyoming, witnessed a blazing sunset off the California coast, stared up at the colossal sequoia trees in the Redwood Forest, and gazed upon the gigantic serene mountains of Utah but my most memorable moment was making friends out of strangers that we now call each other La Familia (Spanish for The Family).
Here are 10 Things I discovered about myself,
- If you Engage First, You Connect Fast
- Don’t Over Think Things
- I love Being Around People
- It’s Ok To Be Different
- It’s Never That Serious
- Appreciate The Moments You Have
- I Matured A Little More
- Be Present
- I Don’t Have To Decide My Future Right Now
- Making Friends Is Easier Than I Thought
My Father told me that I will meet a million people in life but will end up with a handful of true friends that I will share my secrets to, count on and love till the end.
I hope the friends that I met on this trip will be the ones that will last a lifetime.
Always Stay Connected.
